2023 Camry SE Hybrid Nightshade

The Toyota Camry has the not-easy-to-win champion title as the best-selling midsize car in the United States. The reliable and fuel-efficient classic sedan Camry is even better now in 2023 as the Camry Hybrid model with better fuel economy and a modern and younger design style.

Driving the 2023 Camry SE Hybrid Nightshade model I enjoy the trendy, stylish, and sporty look. The amazing fuel economy of 47 MPG on the highway is a big bonus that long-distance drivers enjoy so much. Other Camry hybrid models do a 50 MPG average.

Toyota is very famous among drivers who want to buy a very reliable car and the Camry is one of the products that from generation to generation Americans trust. The new Camry Hybrid is holding up against the recent trend of buying SUVs instead of sedans like the Camry. The New 2023 Camry hybrid Looks younger and has more power.

Several car buyers really trust the Camry  Hybrid as one of the most reliable vehicles you can purchase, with great quality, inexpensive maintenance and care, great fuel economy, and a very good resale value.

Camry History

The Camry is Toyota’s second-largest global car after the Corolla and it is one of the most popular and successful sedans in its class.

The Toyota Camry has been produced since 1982. Originally, the Camry was compact in size but during its evolution and in recent years the Camry has grown to become a midsize sedan.

The new generation Camry is roomy, comfortable, stylish, and enjoyable to drive. The Camry is one of the few sedans in its mid-size segment to offer four-wheel drive, a wonderful feature for drivers who live in snowy climates but want to have a sedan, instead of a larger vehicle like an SUV.

The Toyota Camry Hybrid is one of the most fuel-efficient cars. In addition to its low fuel economy, the Camry Hybrid offers all the positive attributes of the popular Camry, including roomy, comfortable seats, and it is easy to drive.

The Camry sold in North America is proudly built at Toyota’s factory in Georgetown, Kentucky.

2023 Camry Hybrid Nightshade

The Camry Hybrid is available in five different trim models, and my favorite model is the attractive Camry SE Nightshade that I am driving. This trim model received some small changes to improve the 2023 version.  As I test drive the Nightshade SE hybrid model I enjoy the pleasure of driving this sporty sedan that Americans love.

The SE Hybrid Nightshade Edition includes blacked-out accents, very sporty 19-inch TRD matte bronze-finished alloy wheels, and especially the new exterior elegant color, Reservoir Blue color.

The 2023 Camry Hybrid offers available LED headlights that add a distinctive look to its unmistakable style.

The elegant interior style of the new 2023 Camry shows you that it is still one of the most comfortable and spacious cars in the segment without being too flashy or too expensive. Tall adults will find plenty of room above their heads and in front of their knees, while a rear-facing child seat fits in the back with ease.

The large comfortable seats and smooth ride help the Camry to accommodate a wide range of drivers even on long drives. It is roomy for both front and rear occupants and has great outward visibility. The optional 360-degree camera system makes it even easier to drive through tight parking lots as you can have a clear view of all the surroundings around your vehicle. The optional Surround View Camera system is an excellent accident avoidance system.

Many hybrid sedans force you to give up cargo space, but not this one. Usually, Hybrid sedans have less cargo space due to the position of the hybrid battery in the trunk, but the Camry Hybrid has a full-size trunk, without the intrusion of a noticeable hybrid battery pack at all. With the trunk open, you can’t tell the difference between the standard Camry and this hybrid Camry.

Technology is very good providing value for its segment. The 9-inch infotainment system’s touchscreen is easy to read, and integrated navigation is offered on higher trims if you want it. The radio volume and tuning knobs are easy to reach.

The user interface presents no mystery, with large, clear gauges and simple, well-labeled buttons. They’re relatively intuitive even for tech-averse drivers. It brings smartphone integration of Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa.

Three USB ports and the option to add a wireless charger should provide plenty of charge for all passengers.

I like that Toyota gives you a lot of safety standard features included in every car model. The 2023 Camry comes standard with antilock disc brakes, stability, and traction control, front and rear side airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags, front knee airbags, and a rearview camera.

It comes with driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, a blind spot alert system that is combined with a rear cross-traffic alert system, a lane departure alert, and a pre-collision system.

Pricing and Trim Models

The 2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid is available in five trim levels: LE, SE, SE Nightshade model that I am test driving, and the XLE, and XSE models.

  • 2023 Toyota Camry LE Hybrid $28,355
  • 2023 Toyota Camry SE Hybrid $29,890
  • 2023 Toyota Camry SE Nightshade Hybrid $30,890
  • 2023 Toyota Camry XLE Hybrid $33,245
  • 2023 Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid $33,795

The LE model includes 16-inch steel wheels, LED headlights, a 7-inch touchscreen, a USB port, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto integration. a power-adjustable driver’s seat, alloy wheels, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, and two USB charging ports.

The XLE adds more unique features to the LE, such as LED headlights, chrome exterior trim, keyless entry and ignition, leather upholstery, power-adjustable front passenger seat, enhanced driver information display, 9-inch information touchscreen, platform wireless charging, dual-zone climate control.

The Nightshade includes a stealth look and adds 19-inch bronze-painted wheels, black exterior trim, and a trunk-mounted spoiler.

The Advantage of the Camry, Amazing Fuel Economy

All 2023 Camry Hybrid trim models, except the base model Camry LE Hybrid, have a gas economy of 44 MPG in the city and 47 MPG on the highway.

Then the LE Camry has the best fuel economy of 51 MPG in the city and 53 MPG on the highway, which is even more impressive.

The 47 miles per gallon fuel consumption on the highway and 44 miles per gallon in the city is just a dream for drivers who have normal cars without such good economy, as you drive long distances your pocket will enjoy more and more the savings of owning a Camry.

Even when you compare the very good fuel economy of 47 MPG with an electric car economy, let’s not forget that electricity is not free and sometimes charging at home or at an electric charge station can also cost money.

Performance

The Power train of the Camry Hybrid is very good for a mid-size sedan, all Camry models are powered by a strong 208-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, which is paired with a continuously variable transmission that sends power to the front wheels.

Comfort is one of the highlights of this midsize. Hybrid performance is smooth and carefree. Braking is predictable and very helpful in everyday applications, and the low rolling resistance tires common in this class also provide average stopping distances.

Steering and handling are very acceptable from a performance standpoint, The Camry is your typical easy-to-drive car, it’s economical, and it’s always been reliable. The Camry is built for daily commuting but it also can be fast on the track or highway.

The continuously variable transmission helps the engine with a reasonably good quick-shift response. The extra weight of the hybrid system is evident.

The Camry benefits from a slightly softer suspension, giving it a more cushioned feel. The chassis is rigid, which means the car is easily upset by potholes, and every bump is felt inside.
